PETRO CASE STUDY

Petro Case Study presents an opportunity to investigate into a current buzz in the petroleum Industry. Here is a chance to develop your insight in geosciences and learn the rudiments of it. It aims to gauge your analyzing and presentation skills to the fullest.Petro Case Study is presented in association with The Society of Petroleum Engineers(SPE), IIT Kharagpur Student Chapter.   • Problem Statement

  • Eligibility

    The participant students must be currently pursuing education (undergraduate or postgraduate) in a recognized institute. The participants may be asked to furnish the supporting documents at to prove the forementioned criteria. The competition is wholly created and managed by GREAT STEP -11 organising team. In other words, students must:

    1. Have played a major role in conceiving the venture,

    2. Have key management roles in the venture, and

    3. Own significant equity in the venture.

  • Event Structure

    1. The competition will be organized in two phases. The first stage will be online while the second will be at IIT Kharagpur during GREAT STEP.

    2. The PRELIMINARY round will aim to float initial challenge to all the participants . There will be a problem statement whose solution will have to be submitted online before deadline.

    3. Participants will be short listed on the basis of the merit of their submission. Short listed participants will be eligible to appear for the gruelling session of CASE STUDY at IIT Kharagpur during GREAT STEP.

    4. Second Round will be a presentation cum debate cum questionnaire round whereby the teams will have to present their work done on the problem before other teams and Judges.

    5. The final winners will be declared on the cumulative scores achieved by the teams from both first and second rounds.

  • Rules

    1. Only teams who have registered online would be able to participate.
    2. Each team can contain a maximum of Two (2) participants. Students from different colleges can form a single team.
    3. Teams should mention their college name, their ID, and the names of their members on the first page of the word file.
    4. The submission has to be as a pdf document which should be mailed to submission@greatstep in by 31st October.
    5. The document should not be longer than 6 pages including the abstract.
    6. The whole analysis of the problem statement should be done by the participants themselves. Plagiarism will attract cancellation of participation.
    7. Teams presenting their analysis in the second round should come with a proper presentation of not more than 20 slides along with their word document submitted in the first round.
    8. Teams qualified for second round are required to bring 3 printed copies of their presentation and needed to be submitted before the event starts.
    9. The decision of the judges would be final and binding.
    10. Only Top three teams will get certificate of merit. However other teams would get a certificate of participation.
