Paper Presentation

Your erudition is incomplete if you don’t have a chance to share it among your inquisitive fraternity. The paper presentation session is especially meant for that purpose. In order to provide an avenue for young minds and to inspire them for higher achievements this paper presentation is only for students. We would only be more than eager to welcome you and your brilliant ideas.

Eligibility

1. The participant students must be currently pursuing education (undergraduate or postgraduate) in a recognized institute. The participants may be asked to furnish the supporting documents at to prove the forementioned criteria. The competition is wholly created and managed by GREAT STEP -11 organising team. In other words, students must:

a) Have played a major role in conceiving the venture,

b) Have key management roles in the venture, and

c) Own significant equity in the venture.
2. The Papers submitted must be related to Mining, Petroleum or Geology.

3. The participants are not allowed to submit any copyright material or any research paper of any Professor etc.If someone is found using any such material he/she will be disqualified from the event.

4. Papers that have already been accepted in standard national conferences or published in journals shall get a direct entry to the second round. However, Authors must make sure their participation in GREAT STEP does not lead to violation of Copyright laws of conferences/seminars they have previously attended.

5. Papers presented in GREAT STEP can be presented at other events also.
Event Structure

1. The competition will be organized in two phases. The first stage will be online while the second will be at IIT Kharagpur during GREAT STEP.

2. Participants will be short listed on the basis of the merit of their submission. Short listed participants will be eligible to appear for the gruelling session of Paper Presentation at IIT Kharagpur during GREAT STEP.

3. The final winners will be declared on the cumulative scores achieved by the teams from both first and second rounds.
Rules

1. Only teams who have registered online would be able to participate. The Papers submitted must be related to Mining, Petroleum or Geology only. 2. Each team can contain a maximum of Two (2) participants. Students from different colleges can form a single team. 3. Teams should mention their college name, their ID, and the names of their members on the first page of the word file. 4. The abstract submission has to be as a pdf document which should be mailed to submission@greatstep.in before 31st October. 5.The participants must furnish validation from the Professor/Assistant Professor/Mentor guiding you in the project. In the first round, The participants must furnish the Name and Designation (along with department and Institute)of the Professor. In the final round,The participants must furnish a document attested by their guide/ mentor clearly stating that the concerned participant(s) have done original work relevant to the submitted paper. The paper must bear the signature and the seal of the Professor/ Head of Department. 6. The final paper must be in IEEE format. However, we do not specify any limit on number of pages or word limit. 7. For the final round the participants will have to give their presentation in Macromedia flash 8.0/Microsoft PowerPoint. Only picture clippings and graphs may be used.Recorded dialogues or movie clippings are not allowed. 8. Computer for presentation will be provided by us. 9. For the second round each teams will get maximum 9 minutes to present their idea. They will then have 1 minute to wind up. This will be followed by a question and answer session of 3 minutes duration.Marks will be deducted for exceeding time after 10 minutes. 10. Teams qualified for second round are required to bring 3 printed copies of their final presentation and needed to be submitted before the event starts. 11. The decision of the judges would be final and binding. 12. Only Top three teams will get certificate of merit. However other teams would get a certificate of participation.
